Large Certificate

Contains the full names of the couple or individuals, their birthdates and birthplaces, date of marriage, place of marriage, registration number, and date of registration.

Certified Copy of Marriage Registration

This a photocopy of the marriage registration. It is legally the most complete document. The photocopy is certified as a true copy of the original.
NOTE: Certified copies are rarely needed by citizens and are, by law, for restricted use only. They are generally only required for court or consulate purposes. They are not recommended for use as identification purposes.

Who Can Apply For a Marriage Certificate?

Marriage Certificates may be released to:

  1. Either party of the marriage; or
  2. If both parties to the marriage are deceased, a child or parent of either party; or
  3. A person who has written authorization from a person described above.

Fees & Processing Times

  • Regular Service - 15 to 20 business days average processing and mailing time - $75.00 each (includes all taxes and mailing costs)

The above fees include all processing fees, shipping fees and HST. The fees include the government agency’s cost for searching the records. If no record of the event is found, the fees are applied to the search cost.

All Marriage Certificates are shipped directly from the Manitoba Department of Vital Statistics.
