• Contains all registered information on the statement of marriage.

Who May Apply For a Marriage Certificate?

The parties to the marriage, children of the marriage, parents of the parties to the marriage and legally authorized representatives acting on behalf of these individuals are entitled to apply. Authorized representatives are required to provide proof of authorization.
If one or both of the parties to the marriage die, the surviving party and Next of Kin - the parents of either party, children of the marriage and siblings of either party may apply. If all the Next of Kin are deceased, the Extended Next of Kin may apply. Extended Next of Kin relationships include aunt, uncle, first cousin, grandchild, grandfather, grandmother, nephew and niece.

Fees

All delivery times quoted are average delivery times, and cannot be guaranteed. All Marriage Certificates are sent directly from the Office of the Registrar General.

Note:

Recent Marriages – Marriage Certificates will only be issued after the marriage has been registered. The registration process may take 10-12 weeks from the date that marriage occurred. As such, rush delivery is not available for marriages that took place within the last 12 weeks. Please contact the Registrar’s Office directly at 1-800-461-2156 if you require rush delivery for a recent marriage.

Marriages Pre-1991 – Marriages that occurred prior to 1991 cannot be processed within fifteen business days (or five business days with rush delivery)

For marriages that occurred more than 80 years ago you will need to contact the Archives of Ontario.

Rush delivery is not available outside of Canada.
